Anna is primarily interested in the neuroimmune changes that mediate the initiation, progression and persistence of alcohol use disorder. Her current project investigates the role of TLR signaling and the role of microglia in chronic ethanol consumption using transcriptomics and computational pharmacology. The main goal of this research is to identify (1) transcriptional programs that contribute to disease pathology, (2) new targets for drug repurposing or genetic manipulation to decrease alcohol intake based on gene expression data.
