Dr. Blednov graduated with an M.D./Ph.D. from th 2nd Moscow Medical Institute, School of Medical Biology, and a Dr.Sci. from the Institute of Pharmacology, both in Moscow, U.S.S.R. As a long time researcher at the Institute of Pharmacology, he carried out research on behavioral screening of new tranquilizers and psychostimulants, which have many common aspects with classical drugs of addiction. At the Waggoner Center for Alcohol and Addiction Research at the University of Texas at Austin, he expanded his research to include molecular-genetic manipulations associated with alcohol addiction.
